Learning from His Example- Helping Those Less Fortunate
After watching the news about how Brenden Foster, a terminally ill boy wanted nothing more than to help those who were less fortunate than himself, I realized that in today's society the practice of selflessness is hardly ever seen. I am guilty of this too. Sometimes I get so caught up in the things I don't have and worrying about the troubles I have to deal with in my personal life, I fail to take the time to help out my fellow man. The video actually brought tears to my eyes. It was a beautiful thing to see how one person can evoke change. Even while battling leukemia, Brenden never once complained. He used his energy to think of ways to help others.
Sadly, Brenden died last Friday morning, but his last wish made communities everywhere come together and develop food drives for the homeless as part of the solution. His death made me think of ways for me to get involved. Despite his young age of 11, this boy has done more in those years than others have done in a lifetime, not wanting anything in return.
He is a perfect example of many Bibles principles. He put others before himself. In many ways, his actions presented a challenge to people everywhere. Can people take the time and care for someone else instead of worrying about things like the economy? Sure, the economy is important, but I don't think it will give you the same satisfaction as helping someone other than yourself.
What are some of the things you can do to help those less fortunate?
